Wolfgang Bittner, born in 1941 in Gleiwitz, Upper Silesia (now Poland), lives as a writer and publicist in Göttingen. He has a doctorate in law and writes books for adults, young people and children. He has received several prizes and awards and is a member of PEN. From 1996 to 1998 he was a member of the broadcasting council of Westdeutscher Rundfunk, and from 1997 to 2002 he was a member of the federal board of the Association of German Writers. Extensive travels have taken him to the Middle East, Mexico, Canada and New Zealand, and he was a visiting professor in Poland in 2004 and 2006. Wolfgang Bittner has worked as a freelancer for newspapers, magazines, radio and television and has published more than 80 books, including the non-fiction books “Der neue West-Ost-Konflikt - Inszenierung einer Krise” and “Deutschland - verraten und verkauft” as well as the novel “Die Heimat, der Krieg und der Goldene Westen”.
