Rafael Lutz – author

Rafael Lutz currently works as an editorial journalist for Weltwoche. He previously worked for various local newspapers such as the Tössthaler and the Elgger Zeitung. As a journalist, he also wrote for the online portals Transition NewsGlobalbridge and Infosperber.

Lutz, born in 1987, studied sociology at the University of Fribourg. In his master's thesis, he examined the reporting of leading Swiss media such as the NZZ and the Tages-Anzeiger at the beginning of the Ukraine conflict in 2014.

Lutz uncovered how one-sidedly the Swiss media wrote about the Maidan coup and the Crimean referendum. In their reports on these key geopolitical events, NZZ and Co. relied mainly on Western sources.

In March 2025, Lutz revealed plans by the Swiss army to send peacekeeping troops to Ukraine in Weltwoche. Under the code name “Stabilitas”, plans are being drawn up in Bern to provide Kiev with several detachments in the event of a possible ceasefire.

Rafael Lutz lives with his family in Winterthur.
