Patrick Ringgenberg – Author

Swiss academic and photographer Patrick Ringgenberg holds a degree in cinema (HEAD, Geneva), a degree in religious studies (École pratique des hautes études, Paris-Sorbonne), and a doctorate in history (University of Geneva). He lectures on Iran and the Middle East at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, Switzerland) and is an associate researcher at the Institute for the History and Anthropology of Religions (IHAR) at the University of Lausanne. He is the author of some twenty books on Iran, the history of religions and esotericism, and medieval and oriental arts, including: Guide culturel de l’Iran (2006; 6th edition 2018), L’univers symbolique des arts islamiques (2009), Une introduction au Livre des rois (Shâhnâmeh) de Ferdowsi (2009), Le sanctuaire de l’Imam Rezâ à Mashhad (2016), Peindre l’Invisible. Images sacrées d’Orient et d’Occident (2018), Comprendre l’Iran (2021), Persia (2024).
