Orlov Dmitry

Dmitry Orlov – author

Dmitry Orlov was born in Leningrad, USSR, into an academic family. He emigrated to the US in the mid-1970s together with his parents. While living in the US, he earned degrees in Computer Engineering and Applied Linguistics, and worked in a variety of fields, including as a research engineer in high-energy physics, a systems architect in Internet commerce and digital content management and as a front end specialist in network security.

Starting in 2005, Dmitry has published hundreds of articles, three books and a dozen books of essays. He has given numerous talks and interviews, and delivered keynote addresses at several conferences. His writing was initially inspired by his observations during his extended visits back to the USSR/Russia before, during and after the Soviet collapse and by the realization that the USA is following the same overall path toward dissolution and collapse as the USSR. This thesis was seen as outrageous when he first proposed it, but since then has been moving toward being accepted as conventional wisdom.

Having predicted, then observed, America's inexorable march toward collapse, a decade ago Dmitry decided that he has seen enough of it and moved back to Russia. Dmitry now lives with his wife and son in St. Petersburg, Russia.
